Catch Up:

I figured it has been a while since I last blogged and I didn't want people (JOHN) to think that I have stopped doing things on my list. I have a few things in the works so I thought I'd share the progress I've been making on said items.

18 Whale Watching
Last night, my friend Courtney and I purchased our tickets to go whale watching! We will be waking up at 5 tomorrow morning to leave the house by 530 in order to check in at 830. We will board our boat at 930 and embark on what I hope will be an amazing day full of whales. If not, we're bringing some games to play to keep us busy for the five hours we'll be on the boat. Here's where we'll be going tomorrow!!

5 Volunteer for BBBS/ United Way
 I recently filled out the informational survey to volunteer at my local Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). I am very excited to start the next part of the volunteer process for this organization. When doing my student teaching in the urban part of North Carolina, I realized that I had a strong desire to help kids that come from broken homes or have a disadvantage in life. The more a student didn't want to listen about school, the more I wanted to help him/her. I became overwhelmed by the amount of students that actually needed this help/attention from me so I am very eager to be able to volunteer at BBBS in order to focus my attention on one child.

After about two weeks of phone tag, my dear friend Emily and I finally had the chance to catch up. Emily and Richard got married on July, 9 2011 but I wasn't able to attend the wedding because John was leaving so soon after. Her wedding present is sitting by my entertainment center waiting to be sent out. I will post pictures of the present when she gets the gift -- I don't want her to see what she's getting ;-).

So this is it for now. I will of course, update on all of the above items (with pictures) when they are actually completed.
